Laser Cards have been used by Irish consumers for 17 years. The card was introduced by the main retail banks as an efficient alternative to the cheque and at its peak the number of active cards reached 3 million, with total sales hitting the €11billion mark in a single year (2010).

While Laser is used in the Irish market, the cards are co-branded with Maestro for many years, allowing cardholders to use the card abroad at ATMs and in shops.
